Virtual Course Requirements

A MESSAGE FROM THE SARASOTA COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT TO HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND PARENTS:

Students in the graduating class of 2015 must have taken and passed an online course to meet state graduation requirements. Any high school senior who has not met this requirement should meet with his/her school counselor as soon as possible and sign up for a Sarasota Virtual Academy course. Please note that this online course requirement does not apply to any senior who is pursuing an IB or AICE diploma.

Please note that the last day to sign up for a required online course through Sarasota Virtual Academy will be Tuesday, March 31, 2015. If you are a senior with questions about whether you have met this online graduation requirement, or if you have questions about how to sign up for an online course, please contact your school counselor or an administrator immediately.

Angel Fund

Dear SPHS Parents,

I'd like to tell you a little about SPHS Booster's Angel Fund. The Angel Fund was established the first year the school opened to offer modest assistance to cover expenses for students that needed a little help, academically, socially, or wherever needed. The fund can cover things like dance tickets, field trips, Prom tickets, PSAT test, AP study guides, SAT test fees, or any expense that is presented to us that may need funding. Students should not miss out on school events due to the cost.

The Graduating Seniors have many expenses in the spring including the $50 Senior fees for graduation and $46 for the cost of their cap & gown that are due now. Every student deserves to be on that stage in cap and gown. Unfortunately we have several Seniors who have come to the office because they can not pay for their fees.

If you would like to sponsor a student please give to the Angel Fund. You will be given volunteer hours for your donation. You can make a check out to SPHS Boosters - Angel Fund and on the memo line write cap & gown.

Thanks for your help and your continued support of the Angel Fund. We want our students to walk proudly across the stage at graduation.

Sincerely,
Marcia Cruce
SPHS Booster President
